Why you Should Take a Trip With Your Mom Every Year

Remember when you were little and the best thing you gave your Mom every year was a hand-painted frame or a handmade card that she probably couldn’t read? Breakfast in bed, having an at-home spa day, or doing the chores for a month without complaining? When it comes down to it, not much has probably changed. On top of her wish list, I imagine still thoughtful gifts and spending time together. One of the best things to give your mom (and not to mention is a gift to yourself as well) is going on a trip together.

Planning yearly trips with your Mom no matter how long or how far, should be at the top of your list. Here are the top reasons why you should take an annual trip with your Mom:

Going Away Together is a Great Way to Catch Up

Even though you may talk to your Mom daily, it’s often about daily activities or things that happened to mutual people you know. You will also be able to get to know each other better, yes she raised you but there could be things that as an adult she may not know about your personality. Not to mention, when you’re on vacation you have all the uninterrupted time in the world.

You Both get to Cross Off Places on Your Bucket List

If you and your Mom celebrate milestone trips like a trip to Italy or somewhere tropical, or even just a weekend getaway near home it will no doubt still be special. But you can work together to pick out new places each year that are on both your bucket lists and see the world!

You (Most Likely) Travel Well Together

This may not be true for every mother-daughter pair, but for the most part, this will be true. Whether you want to splurge on a nice hotel or dinner or spend the day sightseeing. Maybe you want to have a spa day, but the majority of us have the same priorities as our parents because they’re the ones who showed us how to travel in the first place. If you and your Mom don’t exactly agree on everything, you have a good enough relationship with her to tell her and come to a mutual agreement on how to spend your days together.

The Memories Will Last a Lifetime

As we all don’t even want to think about, traveling with your Mom won’t always be an option. Even if you start now and take your first solo mother-daughter trip together, you’ll have those memories to cherish for years to come. Traveling will put you both in unique situations and give you both first-hand experiences that you wouldn’t otherwise have. You both will have stories, memories, and pictures that will be there forever.

My Mom and I recently traveled to Seattle, WA for a weekend getaway and it was so fun! Where’s someplace that you’d love to go on an annual mother-daughter trip together?
