“Fall” in San Diego means “a second summer” in my book which is why we decided to spend a weekend for a San Diego Staycation at the Cassara Carlsbad to really enjoy the last bit of summer weather. Located only about 35 minutes North of San Diego, this resort in Carlsbad is the perfect place to getaway from your everyday life, yet give you the close drive for a fun staycation and embrace that SoCal laid-back lifestyle. Here’s my review of the new The Cassara Carlsbad hotel in San Diego.
The Cassara Carlsbad
From the moment you walk into the lobby, you will feel like you are vacationing in a luxurious seaside European town with their coastal-inspired decor, yet holds a Mediterranean spirit. The hotel has views of the Pacific Ocean and the iconic Carlsbad flower fields. We can’t forget how they have not one, but two pools! A quiet pool and a family pool complete with a splash pad.
They have socially distanced BBQs and firepits throughout the walkway of the hotel for guests to enjoy. From the quiet pool, the firepits, and the BBQ’s you will have 180-degree coastal views.
I’m happy to report that all of the proper health, safety, and social distancing guidelines are being implemented throughout every part of the hotel – room attendants, lobby, and pool. If you’d like you can also have a contactless check-in available through Hilton Honors App.
The Cassara Carlsbad belongs to the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, and if you are a local San Diego resident, you may have known it previously as the Grand Pacific Palisades Hotel until it officially joined the Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio in December 2019. The Tapestry Collection is a portfolio of upscale, original hotels that is known for its unique style and vibrant personality, and encourages guests to explore the local destination…which are my kind of hotels!
I gave an entire suite tour over on Instagram stories, but in case you missed it….our suite was completely renovated and featured a king room with a parlor, a separate guest room with two twin beds and three flat-screen televisions – creating the perfect home away from home for our weekend getaway.
They typically do have The Cassara Kitchen & Bar onsite which has sourced libations and small bites, this was closed during our stay. And because of this – we were able to bring in our own food and drinks to the pool. Before you go, make sure to call and confirm if the kitchen & bar is open or if you should plan to make a cooler.
